View Full Version : Fusing live rock together

So I got all this rock. Some large ones broke during shipping. I'd like to put them back together, and possibly fuse other rocks as well.

My thoughts are to drill thru the rock and use 3/4" acrylic rod or PVC tubing and then plumbers putty or glue to anchor it.

I'm plainning on building a few tall columns and arches, so I want it to be fairly stable...

Any thoughts??

I have seen alot of folks just drill holes though and uses Zipties. You can get them pretty tight and you can break them back apart.

Yeah, but I'm going to have a few unsupported ledges and long arches. I don't want to trust zip-ties to hold two 30 lb rocks together 2 ft above the sand...

I would go with the acrylic rods. I don't know about the plumber's putty. Maybe some of the glue that people use to attach frags to live rock
